UGC NET 2022 – Exam Date, Application Form, Eligibility

The application process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, UGC NET 2022 has been started.  In this sequence, an important information has also been issued by the National Testing Agency, NTA.  Under which the online application windows for the December 2021 and June 2022 phase exams have been opened from 30 April 2022.  Candidates can apply by 20 May 2022 till 5 PM.  To check the official notification, visit the official website

According to the notification issued by NTA, information from registration for June exam date to exam schedule etc. has been given.  There will also be a chance for correction in the UGC NET application form.  For this, the editing window facility will be made available from May 21 to May 23, 2022.  Applications can be submitted online only.  In case of any problem, candidates can contact NTA on the helpline numbers.

What is UGC NET 2022?

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a nationallevel exam conducted in order to determine the eligibility of candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant

Professor post in Indian universities and colleges. Till June 2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted NET on behalf of UGC. However, from December 2018 onwards National Testing Agency (NTA) started conducting the UGC NET exam in a total of 81 subjects.

What is the NET Exam?

The NET exam is National Eligibility Test which is conducted by various government agencies to select the candidates for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) or Assistant Professor posts in various colleges in India.

Candidates who want to pursue a career in research work or who want to teach students of the best colleges in the country must take the exam to get eligible for the posts. The top exams for NET are CSIR NET & UGC NET. Many states are also conducting the NET exam for their states that help them select the best candidates for the posts in their state.

  • Candidates should secure at least 55 per cent aggregate marks in post graduation 
  • Candidates should not be more than 31 years of age in order to be eligible for JRF
  • There is no age restriction to apply for the post of Assistant Professor
  • A relaxation of five per cent in educational qualification is given to reserved category candidates
  • A relaxation of five years in age criteria is given to reserved category candidates
  • Candidates who have cleared State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1,

2002, are exempted from taking the UGC NET exam

How to apply for UGC NET 2022

  • Now login using your credentials and fill the UGC NET Application Form.
  • Pay the registration fee and click on submit.

  • Download a copy and keep a print out for future references.

Know how much application fee will have to be paid

 To apply for the NTA UGC NET exam, candidates need to pay a certain payment fee.  This is according to different category.  For General/Unreserved category this fee is Rs.1100.  Whereas for EWS/OBC/NCL it is Rs 550 and for third gender it is Rs 275.  As per the earlier information given by UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar, the ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and ‘Assistant Professor’ CBT will be conducted around the second week of June.

UGC NET Syllabus 2022

UGC NET syllabus 2022 is prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The syllabus is different for Paper 1 and Paper 2. The UGC NET Paper 1 syllabus includes topics from Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude,

Comprehension, Communication, Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude, Logical

Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), People, Development and Environment and Higher Education System. On the other hand, the UGC NET Paper 2 syllabus varies for all 81 subjects.

Candidates need to choose the subject for Paper 2 while submitting the application form.

 Selection Process of UGC NET 2022

UGC NET selection process begins with the release of official notification. The UGC NET notification is the first official document that gives information regarding the exam such as exam dates, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus and others. The UGC NET selection process comprises various steps.

Step 1: Fill UGC NET application form

The UGC NET process begins with the release of the application form. Candidates need to register and fill the UGC NET application form online by visiting the official website of the exam. To fill the form, candidates have to pay an application fee.

Step 2: Download the UGC NET admit card

After successful registrations, the NTA releases the UGC NET admit card around a week before the exam. Candidates can download the admit card by logging in to their registered accounts. Candidates need to carry the admit card to the exam centres on the day of the examination.

Step 3: Appear for the UGC NET exam

Candidates who have registered for the UGC NET need to appear for the exam. The UGC NET is a computer-based test that consists of Paper 1 and 2. Both the papers contain objective-type questions that candidates need to complete in a duration of three hours.

Step 4: Check UGC NET result

NTA declares UGC NET result on its official website as per the prescribed schedule. The result contains the roll number and status of candidates, that is, whether a candidate has qualified the exam for Assistant Professor/JRF or failed to qualify the exam.

 Reservation Policy of UGC NET 2022

The reservation policy of the Government of India is applied to UGC NET as well. According to the reservation policy, in the Central Universities and Institutions that are deemed to be Universities,   General-Economically Weaker Section (GENEWS), 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste(SC), 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe(ST) and 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non Creamy layer”(OBC-NCL).

Each category will have 4 (four %) reservations horizontally for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act, 2016) (source-Press Release by UGC).

UGC NET 2022 Qualified Salary
